Corporate Services

We can all become stressed occasionally, but if endured over longer periods of time, stress and anxiety can significantly reduce the productivity of your employees at work. Not only the actual stress itself, but also other illnesses triggered directly by stress can lead to a high number of sick days or even lead to the loss of individual employees and a high staff turnover. Miscommunication and dysfunctional teams will not only harm your business's efficiency, but can also damage the work environment and atmosphere in general and further worsen your employees' overall experience and mood at work. Different personality types can clash and if not contained, this can soon lead to a minor disagreement spiralling out of control, in the worst case scenario leading to work place bullying. The introduction of new systems and procedures is often met with reluctance, due to a fear of change. A restructuring within an organisation can lead to further anxiety and often even hostility. Forced team building exercises and poorly organised internal coaching, though well meant and usually put into place with the best of intentions, will often only alienate staff even further.

On top of all that, it is not only what happens at work that has the potential to negatively influence your employees. We are all just human and susceptible to our own personal environment. We may have had a string of bad days, we may be experiencing problems at home or even be going through a family break up or bereavement. All these things will spill over into the work place, affecting the way we communicate with others and our ability to function at the best of our potential. Yet, so often the real cause of the issue tends to be ignored.

How to set up EAP or workplace counselling for your employees:

Simply contact us to set up a first appointment. We do not believe in charging businesses more for the same service, which is why fees are the same for EAP and workplace counselling as they are for our other clients*. You can find a full overview of all our fees and services offered here.
We will need your invoice details along with an idea of how many sessions you would like to offer your employee. We usually suggest that the minimum number of sessions should be 12, in order to allow for meaningful and lasting changes to take place, however, each company we work with has a different arrangement in place. To give you a few examples, some companies offer their staff unlimited sessions, some set a maximum limit, whilst others offer a fixed number of sessions - some as few as 6. Whatever arrangement you choose, there will always be regular reviews and we will aim to get the best results with the minimum number of sessions possible.

What about confidentiality?

Confidentiality is slightly different in work place counselling, since there is a record of your employee attending sessions. You will usually receive invoices containing your employee's full name (although this can be replaced by a reference number, if required) and the name of the appointment type invoiced. Again, this can be changed to read 'professional services', if required.
You will be informed of your employee's scheduled appointments and  attendance, but other than that the session content will remain completely confidential between your employee and the therapist. Whilst there may be occasions where it can be helpful for a therapist to communicate with a client's employer, this must be strictly client led, meaning that your employee would have to request us to do this specifically and also complete and sign a separate disclosure of information form.
The only exception to this is where you have ordered a psychological assessment. In this case you will receive a full report and your employee will have to give written consent for this before the assessment can take place.

If you would like any further information, discuss your requirements or request a list of current services and rates, please contact Christine directly via email here, by telephone on 01223 654 678 or on her mobile on 07923 239 660.

*Assuming that you settle all invoices as they are raised or pay for blocks of sessions in advance. Where sessions are paid for retrospectively, a surcharge of £10 per session will apply.
